Most likely to: Make multiple Emmy Awards, including Best Informational Series

Executive Producers: Alex Fernandez

Renowned journalist and producer Alex Fernandez will join the network as the newsroom’s new Vice President for News Programming. Reporting to Vice President for News Programming Dana Bash, Fernandez will report to CNN senior vice president and Washington bureau chief David Bohrman. He will be responsible for programming across CNN’s platforms, including CNN en Español, digital, the TheNew Day and CNN’s weekend news program Headline News.

Fernandez brings to CNN over 10 years of experience, having previously led show launches for HLN, the most successful launch in the network’s 24-year history. He also launched Inside Edition in 2006 and was the show’s lead anchor for its third season. Prior to Inside Edition, Fernandez was senior producer for The Insider and senior writer for Entertainment Tonight.

For his work as a reporter and as a part of television news networks’ newsrooms, Fernandez has received numerous journalism awards and media accolades. On the editorial side, he’s won multiple regional and national Emmy Awards for his reporting on the events surrounding the November 12, 2010 Boston Marathon Bombing and the Pennsylvania 26.2a Rail Derailment in April 2015.
