( CNN ) — Toronto police have charged a 32-year-old man in connection with human trafficking investigations across the city
Windsor Smith-Lester, 32, was arrested Thursday following an investigation spanning across six months. During the course of the probe, he is accused of negotiating the sale of four victims between November 2016 and February 2019. Police say three of the victims were children.
The three alleged victims are under 18 years old, the Canada Gazette, an official newspaper, said in March. The juvenile victims are believed to be sisters.
Police said they are investigating whether Smith-Lester was involved in other cases.
The victims are all identified by initials as T4, who was 13 when the alleged scheme began, T8, 16 when it began, and T4, 18 when it ended.
Smith-Lester is charged with trafficking in persons under 18 and facilitating or facilitating the introduction of minors into the sex trade. He is scheduled to appear in court on April 30.
Police are urging others who have information to call police, or call the Canadian Anti-Human Trafficking Centre in case people need additional safety.
